ArmchairBEA- Day 4; Beyond your blog....

Beyond my blog lies.......my family (children) and my job (midwife)- I am currently having some time from work for health reasons, which is why i spend a far bit of time online.

That wasn't the answer anyone was looking for where they? lol, sorry.

Ok, this is a completely and honest post.  I set off blogging because i wanted to keep a record of the books i have read, my thoughts and books i want to read.  I had browsed booking blogs for a long while and loved it, i also watch Youtube videos in relation to books.  I contemplated starting a bog for a while, and since i am off work and limited in mobility sometimes, i thought damn it let's do it and i started.  The more i have posted and being on twitter, i have found that i LOVE the booking community, i really do.  From this i have found out quite a lot.  Like how many bloggers want to be an author or do publishing, how many bloggers are contacted by publishers and authors and all the events that bloggers attend.  I also had no idea about how bloggers received arcs, what that was! or even what netgalley was!  I have only being blogging for 6-8weeks and have had a massive learning curve and eye opener.  The highlights for me during that time included the boutofbooks 4.0 read-a-thon and also this armchair bea, oh and also i won the boutofbooks 4.0 grand prize giveaway so i have my own book-marks designed and being made to send to others to draw ppl's attention to my blog. Earning money from this blog is no where near my radar of 'hopes' for this blog, if i wanted to earn money i could do something related to my career in the same amount of time and earn more so no it isn't for me.  Money can go to people's heads ;)

I do not want to be an author and the idea of any freelancing is not for me, believe it or not i am not 'into' writing and i know i am not very good at it :/ I wouldn't mind chatting to authors or being contacted, i don't see it happening and neither do i see myself being contacted by publishers.  Oh tell a lie, i had a little chat with Diane Chambrlain (WOW!) and a few emails went back and forward, and on goodreads i have had two authors contact me wishing to send me their book and to review it.  There is not many event going off around where i am in the UK,not sure i would attend them, but i was jealous of people attending BEA 2012 so maybe i would.  If an author i was interested in was coming to a nearby place then i would more than likely attend to have my book signed.  I don't think blogger meets would be possible around here.

I have to say that i lack in confidence so many things beyond the blog would be difficult.  However, who knows what the future holds, i may start making Youtube videos, i may even start writing, i may change my thoughts and want to do an English degree at university even or what to wrote reviews for other types of media.  I am a believer in fate and i believe everything happens for a reason, right now i am ding this because I LOVE IT.  It that ever changes I WILL STOP.

I know that isn't what people wanted from this post but this is all i could say really :)
I look forward to reading other posts and seeing what people have to say and to may give me some idea :)

I don't really care to freelance write either, and like you, I started the blog to save my ideas and thoughts about books!
Ive had a great time meeting new bookish friends through blogging too! :)

  5. Oh, Becky!! You're so sweet!! :) :) And I agree with you :) and I too, don't want to become a writer. Though, my friends think I will write a novel in the span of the next 10 years. Actually they are pretty convinced. I am, clearly, not.I mean, I know a lot of people laugh when I talk or when I share my adventures, because I have a funny unique way of explaining things.. But when I need to put them on paper, everything become quite formal, or it sounds stupid, or isn't funny at all. So really, I dunno. :P Maybe one day I will write something ... but honestly, I have no idea about the story or the character or anything for the matter. I could share my life story. haha that WOULD be fun! But then if my mom reads it.. Um, no. Probably not a good idea, after all :P
    Enjoy! xx
