.............in real life....ekkkkk!!!
I wasn't going to do this post because i am new to blogging and i have done ZERO networking outside of the computer. I felt pretty down and rubbish that i couldn't do a post so i just browsed a few posts and thought nope no post today. However, thanks to Jenna from Little Bird Reads she did a post that was on a similar level of experience and that made me realise that YES I CAN DO A POST ON THIS hehe. Nothing changes i am afraid, i have no experience in networking outside of the computer unfortunately :( It's funny because she had a similar experience to me in that she joined a bookclub but it didn't work out. This is what happened at my work,we set up a bookgroup but it just failed miserably, we then did a book swap where we had a big notebook and we brought books in and the bringer put the title and date brought and then a review at the side. When someone borrowed it they put their name and the date taken, and then the date they brought it back. They would also put a review underneath. That worked really good to be honest and still worked when i left. I am using the theme today to read other people's blog posts to gain experience to help me learn how to network in real life! I feel like it will take some confidence but this can be gained. The future is bright hehe :)
So any experience or anything you want to add on here would be great <3 <3 :)
I am going to do some reading and make notes x
That's awesome. Thats a good idea for my school. We tried to start a book club it just didnt work.
ReplyDeleteMy armchair is short and sweet to because I only recently started blogging but i did have one good experience to write about!

It's a shame when bookclubs don't work, i have read about so many that haven't. It must come down to the participants though. I will check out your blog :) Us newbies can still add something hehe :p xx
DeleteBecky, but this is cool!! And I am happy you decided to do the post!! I don't have any experience outside internet either. Due to the fact that in my country there are no book clubs or blogger networking :/ But it's still cool :) Enjoy! See you at the Twitter Party this evening!! :) ;) xoxo
ReplyDeleteHiya hun, thank you, that's so sweet of you to say! I took me a bit of courage as i feel useless but i went with it hehe. What country are you from again? no bookclubs or blogger networking, wow, get to england,we will have to get some blogger neworking going lol. I missed the twitter party...gutted!! kids were playing up and then i fell asleep :( I am going to try tonight as it is the last one but it like 1 or 2am ekk so be bit later your time. Can you make it xxx
DeleteYay! Glad you posted! :)
ReplyDeleteStarting book clubs is exciting, but when they flop it stinks... that's a cool idea about the notebook- I'd like to try it with my colleagues but I don't think anyone would follow through with it (they can't even follow through on the work documents! haha)
Another newbie! Maybe all us newbies should get together and start our own little book club?
ReplyDeleteI hope to start a book club too... I'm thinking booze will help promote it :D
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have the enthusiasm it takes to network and that's half the battle! People enjoy meeting others excited about books!
I have been blogging for awhile now but still am limited in my IRL networking. I need to get the courage up to put myself out there more.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
What a great idea - so glad you found something that worked well for you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great start! I've been blogging for a while and I'm still trying to figure out the networking. Book clubs wax and wane in my experience, so I just keep trying. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for sharing books at work. I am so lucky to work with people that are readers. =) We talk books waaaaay too much.

I think that the majority of us started blogs because we had trouble making connections in the real world. I know I did! I know some bloggers aren't even interested in networking a whole lot in real life, and that's fine too. It is all about what you are comfortable with.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you decided to post. I think there are a lot of us who started blogs so that we had someone to talk book with. It's all good, do what you want!
ReplyDeleteAwe, sucks that your book club fell under, but your second idea sounds like it was really awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never really done anything like that, but I don't know if I would. I'm not sure if I would trust my books with the people I work with. I'm always cautious about sharing my books with people I don't know very well, and I'm not super close with the people I work with, but it definitely would be a good idea if you knew everyone would take care of each other's books. :)
I'm a newbie, too. But I'd definitely like to try some real life networking one of these days. :)
