Armchair BEA; introduction.

Welcome to armchair BEA!!

Hiya, i'm Beckie **big waves**, welcome everyone!!

This is the long awaited BEA (Book Expo America) but this is the armchair version for those of us who couldn't make it.  I am one of them sadly, i live in England so the chances of me going is minus a 100 never mind zero, lol.  I am sad that i am missing it because i would have loved to have gone but never mind, the armchair one has many benefits!! Stay in pjs, sit on sofa/bed, no sore feet, drink hot choc/tea, watch tv, listen to music, go on twitter, do blogging, meet others so get to know the community better and i'm sure there is more- list some in the comments :)  Check out about the armchairbea!

So intro time from the questions and then time to check out some blogs :) I do not get much time sometimes to blog etc (hence me doing my intro at 22.30 uk time lol )

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
My name is Rebecca, but i rarely get called that, it's usually Bec, Becs, Becca or Beckie lol.  I am 27, i live in the uk and i am a mum of two lil 'cherubs' (read terrors lol) who are 8 and 4.  I started a personal blog when my youngest was born but it was private to me.  I started my book one recently but have been reading book blogs for a long time, over a year.  I have taken the plunge! hehe.  I have done this because i have long-term health problems and i thought this would help me with a purpose to take my mind off things, meet people and also it was a personal record for me to look back etc with books.  I love blogging, reading (obviously lol) and watching youtube videos in relation to books.

What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
I am currently reading Hourglass by Myra McEntire (loving it!!), can't wait to read Timepiece after! So far my favourite book of 2012 has been 'The Good Father' by Diane Chamberlain. She is fast becoming my favourite author and i absolutely LOVED this book! Oh and another favourite by the same author was 'The Midwife's Confession' -amazing!

Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
I am a qualified MIDWIFE!

What is your favorite part about the book blogging community? Is there anything that you would like to see change in the coming years?
The togetherness, the interactions and making online friends.  The whole sharing information, finding other books you like but didn't know about or trying a new genre.  Also hearing other's opinions about books you have read.  Twitter is great!  Yep, i would LOVE all the drama, bitterness etc to go.  No one in my eyes is better than anyone else either and just because a blog is all singing and dancing doesn't mean the content is on the same level.  Content is important.

Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?
OMG yes completely! Before i was mainly for the romance and chick lits.  I still like those BUT i have  been introduced to dystopian novels, i'm loving books about time travel!! and i'm even into vampire books and contemplating reading zombie books, which i did not think where for me.  You have to just open your mind and go with it. My TBR pile is ever growing and is probably nearly at 100books  or more, oops.

So that is my five questions, I look forward to reading other people's, so let's have some fun!!

  4. I don't think your blog is "basic" at all. I think it's very aesthetically pleasing. And I love the font you're using. I just may have to be a copycat.

  5. Dystopian novels are so much fun to read, aren't they? (Although I guess that seems sort of wrong considering they are all about horrible situations.) :) Very cool that you are a midwife!

    1. Thank you, hehe, oh the states, would LOVE to come there lol so yeah you are on haha. The whole birthing experience in the states seems very different, very medicalised with obstetric nurses and obsetricians delivering babies.....i know there are midwives but i wonder if they are like us in the way they practice :) I have baby fever bad but cannot have anymore
Nice to meet you too, hope you have a good week and glad you enjoyed that, popcorn!!! my new obsessio

  9. My tastes have changed since I started blogging too! I am now much more willing to try other genres, and I started reading YA because of book blogs - otherwise I would never have given it the time of day.

  10. *waves while jumping up and down in a very excited fashion* Hello there! That is so cool that you're a midwife and your blog is fantastic! Day 1 and I'm loving my first Armchair BEA experience already because it's always such fun to meet other people in this wacky community known as book blogging. I totally hear you on the tastes thing, too. Contemporary/romance is still my favorite, but dystopians are so much fun too. So nice to "meet" you and hope you have a fun week!

I hope you have a fun week too :) sounds like you have got off to a great start hehe x

    1. Being open to books has taken a while and even when i'm giving something a go for the first few pages i'm like umm is this for me and then by the next chapter i am hooked lol. The flip to zombies is slow, i have not yet read a book with this theme but my interest has increased and i'm reading 'blurbs' and reviews on them-next step is to read one xhehex

    1. Thank you for returning the favour :) Have you started reading Timepiece or is it on your TBR list? I have and only 2 chapters in and i'm hooked. I didn't realise it is different to hourglass as it's from a different character's perspective. Did you enjoy the ABEA overall? xx
