Waiting on Wednesday #11

A Gift From Tiffany's by Melissa Hill.
This is my 11th Waiting on Wednesday (WoW),
therefore my #WoW may not correlate with the linked post.
This meme is hosted by Jill @ Breaking the spine.

A Gift from Tiffany's                                                                                                             Paperback: 416 pages
  • Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin (16 Oct 2012)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 1250020220
  • ISBN-13: 978-1250020222.

New York City at Christmas and a visit to Tiffany’s is a recipe to sweep a girl off her feet—unless fate has other plans . . .

When Ethan Greene lost his wife to cancer, he never thought he would be able to replace her… until one woman stepped in and showed him how to be happy again.  Now, on a romantic Christmas trip to New York City, he has a plan to show Vanessa just how important she is to him, and maybe even give his daughter, Daisy, a complete family again. He’s going to propose with a perfect ring from Tiffany’s.

Gary Knowles and his girlfriend Rachel are on the trip-of-a-lifetime in New York, at the most magical time of year. The only thing missing is Gary’s gift for Rachel. On a last-minute Christmas Eve visit to Tiffany’s, he quickly picks out a charm bracelet for her, and heads back to their hotel. But, in a moment, one small mistake changes everything.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I am looking forward to reading this, i love Melissa Hill's books.    This one is appeals to me because it is a christmas book, yeh! and romance yeh! and set in New York- perfect!! It's just one of those books to read on a winter's evening, all snuggled up, and even better if it is when the christmas decorations up with the lights all twinkly, it'll just be a cute girlie heartwarming read.  Nothing serious, just an easy going story which you need sometimes.  Melissa Hill's other books 'The Charm Bracelet' and 'Something from Tiffany's' all the same stylr of books and also are linked by the Tiffany store jewellery.  I know this is not a lot of people's cuppa tea but i am sure it will appeal to some people! The cover here looks a bit boning but i bet the original is all glittery with sparkles, and the silver colour really starting out, i bet it is a really cute cover in real life!

What is everyone else waiting for? Feel free to post your links :)

Bout of books day 2 update and challenges

Day 2; Tuesday 13th August......slight improvement :D

Books read today; Thy Neighbor by Norah Vincent and Speechless by Hannah Harrington
Books completed so far; None so far
Today's Progress; 20% of Speechless, which at 288pgs, I read approx 57pages. And I read 5% of Thy Neighbour which is 322pgs so approx 16pages.  Total pages today approx is 73pages.
Readathon Pages Total; 105 pages I think.....
Feelings/Updates; I have had a slightly better day,i didn't start reading until late afternoon, and I did it because I wanted too rather than I had too.  I don't know how the readathon will pan out for me but I need to have faith, I am doing what I can and iwill enjoy it, I am still ill, my medication, well one of them, has being tripled!! Therefore most of time I am a walking zombie and It will get worse this week until my body adjusts. GREAT! If it makes me pain free again in long run I am not complaining.  I have not being on twitter today but I have visited lots of blogs and commented on a lot and I will do some more tonight :) my reading progress will be updated later.

Challenges.

*****Today's first challenge is hosted by Curiosity Killed the Bookworm, and the challenge is to write a Limerick, it is explained on the blog.
Here goes;
She loves 2 read pages n pages
She finks she has ages n ages
She must remember 'er blog
It weighs 'er darn lika log
But in real life neither pay the wages.

***** In the second challenge, hosted by The Grammarians Reviews,  the challenge is to Relocate! the book you are reading?
Here is mine;
Book is 'Thy Neighbor' by Norah Vincent, set in a suburban neighbourhood, and he spy's on all the neighbours by getting cameras fitted in their houses.  I would relocate him to working in a secret FBI investigation centre whereby he watches millions of different cameras to try to crack cases. He has to find the cameras and find the time frame- this way he is filling his urge to soy on people and know what they are doing, but as well as doing a good thing for the world and to get recognition and a sense of achievement.  He feels like he missed out on this growing up and now he can have everything he ever wanted in life and still spy on everything hehe.
********The third challenge is hosted by 'Once Upon a Time' and will be completed tomorrow as there is no end date.

Bout of books; Day 1 & challenges

Day 1 Monday 12th August.........little action.

Books read today; Thy Neighbor by Norah Vincent.
Books completed so far; None so far
Today's Progress; I read 10% of a 320 page book which is only 32pages!

Readathon Pages Total; 32
Feelings/Updates; I am ill at the moment, as mentioned at the end of the SWUR readathon.  I don't need to be ill when i have a readathon back to back, argh!! Let's hope tomorrow is a better day!! Those pages were read at midnight when i couldn't sleep! During the day, i did read blogs and comment on ppl's blog posts. I was all ready for the twitter chat but i fell asleep :( not a happy bunny.  I have also missed  entering the challenges as I have left it until day two but never mind. I am still going to do the challenges here :)

Challenges.

The first challenge, hosted by Auggie Talk is to name 'My Literacy BFF'
This was really difficult for me to decide but in the end it was one who sticks in my mind and people will think this is so silly, but it would be Rebecca Bloomwood from the Shopaholic series written by Sophie Kinsella.  In the books, I just loved her! Funny, crazy, up for fun but yet also kind, caring, loveable and warm hearted......we would just click, with the attitude and everything.  Also she is a shopaholic.....like me! We would be united with our credit cards to the max lol.  We would just have such a giggle together....holidays, nights out, day outs.  While sharing more serious stuff, both having a younger sister, planning weddings, pregnancy support and then having little mini me's who we would pass on the shopping gene! We both have little girls who also love to shop, so they would play together...having till sets, plastic money and plastic credit cards while we put the world to rights. I would get her to love books too hehe.  So funny that in the film, she is played by Isla Fisher meaning we both have red hair! Lovely lol.
The second challenge was hosted by Reading in Texas and The Space Between and is called 'Passing the book challenge'. It is a question to ask what you do with your books when you finish reading them, I think this is a really interesting challenge and I look forward to reading people's responses.
With mine, after reading, they are usually passed to my mum and my sister to read if they want too.  If not then I decide what to do with them, as well as any books that are passed back to me.  In the past, I have not kept any of my read books, well, maybe the odd few I have but usually, they have been given to charity shops.  Now I am getting protective over my books and I am planning to keep them and get some lovely jazzy book shelves!

SWUR; Wrap-up!........

Well , yesterday marked the end of the Summer Wrap-up readathon! It was hosted by  Jennifer @ Some Like it Paranormal and Jude @ In Between. Again thank you to them!  They have set one final challenge, which i will complete towards the end of this post :).

My thoughts.
The readathon started off great for me!  I really made progress and enjoyed it.  Unfortunately, i ended up being ill towards the end, and therefore due to my medication i slept a lot= no reading apart from a few pages.  I only popped onto twitter a few times, i completely forgot that there would be a twitter chat organised.  I planned to occasionally pop onto twitter in the beginning and then when i was making progress i thought i would be on more but obviously been ill ruined that plan!  I participated in a few challenges and LOVED them! they were great challenges! But unfortunately towards the last few days i didn't and challenges i had put off to do later, well never got done :(  Shame really.

 My Progress.
The links to my posts;

Day 1-3 update here
Day 4-6 update here
Day 7-9. update here.

My goals was to finish the book i was reading and then i had 3 other books;
*well i completed the post i was reading (Pushing the Limit) -NEED TO WRITE A REVIEW
*I finished 1 book- January First- NEED TO WRITE A REVIEW.
*I read 30% of Thy Neighbor book.

I managed to read 481 pages during the readathon!!! Very proud!!!!

The challenges i completed.
*On Saturday 1st, the challenge by Jessica on her blog Wickedly Bookish,, Here is the link to my post for the 'Cover Hunt Challenge'
*On Sunday 2nd, the challenge-  Hotter than Summer and is hosted by Trini @ A Book Lover's Review Blog. Here is my link for the 'Swoon challenge'
*On Monday 3rd, the challenge-Cover Love by  Emily at 'Falling for YA'   and my link here.
* On Tuesday 7th, the challenge by Mackenzie @ 'Oh for the Love of Books!'
which was to plan a summer party-I didn't have a post for this as it was in a comment & i pasted it onto my daily post and i also did a pinterest board for it, to create a visual idea. Here goes-

A quiet intimate affair with close family & friends towards the end of the summer season, as a celebration of the summer. It would be held sort of late evening and in a large garden area. There would be a long wooden table (or two) with wooden chairs (decorated) all set out with the cutlery/summer plates & glasses etc, the middle would include candles and colourful flowers. The candles could be lit late evening. The food would be a sort of bbq and also a buffet with yummy summer puddings and desserts. There would even be a big colourful cake that would be cut to celebrate summer like celebrating a wedding with a wedding cake. There would a dance area with music so that as the night went on they could have a dance. For those more quiet, there would be a secluded area with comfy seats/couches/bean bags etc so people could read (we all love to read yeah!) and finally there would be an area with an hot tub so people could enjoy a cocktail or too maybe while they chill out and soak. Speaking of cocktails, there would cocktails-alcoholic and non, fancy drinks, punch bowls, fancy glasses with straws. The whole place would be decorated with bunting, flowers and twinkly lights!! twinkly lights above the tables and dance area. Low background music would be there whilst people ate at the table area, but later on the dance area would have more energetic music so people could enjoy themselves. I have included a link for Pinterest whereby i have done a summer party board just for this challenge to show visual pictures of all my ideas for this party. You will get a better idea of the party i have planned. Please click here.
 For the final challenge, our hosts, Jude at In Between and Jennifer at Some Like it Paranormal, asked us to show or describe places we had read during the readathon.

Now i am sad to say that my reading places in limited t0;
1- sofa- Big lovely comity sofa with a low window next to it, so i could sit with the views of outside (not great view but still) and i could have the window open with a lovely breeze, nice having the sun shining in too. Best still, it is a recliner! Perfect!
2-my bed- Especially when ill i did a lot of reading here! Soft bed with piles of pillows, quilts, blankets, with a fan that keeps me cool and awake! Nothing better than curling up, having my blankets wrapped around me so i'm snuggled and the fan blowing on my face as i read.
3-the bath- This is one of my fav places to read but i am limited, i dare not take the kindle in there, i do take paperback but i still feel a bit tetchy incase i get it wet. I didn't use to mind a book getting a bit curly from getting wet but now i am crazy about keeping them pristine!
4-the car-This week, i had some hospital appointments that were a good 30 mins in the car, taking the kindle meant i did lots of reading! No glare from the sun and lucky i do not experience motion sickness!!
5.the garden-Don't faint, in the UK we had some gorgeous weather, i spent a little bit of time in the garden, soaking up the rays, the warmth of the sun on my skin, and luxkily reading with a kindle..the sun can shine but doesn't effect your reading-no glare!! I wish i had comfortable garden furniture though as i got so unsettled and achy i had to go into, laying on the grass isn't a possibility anymore for me :(.
**I do not have any piccies to show! but this is where i would LOVE to have spent the week reading lol.

Bout of Books 5.0 Readathon goals.....

Wow.....it is here....already!!!!!!! Bout of books 4.0 was my 1st ever readathon (i won the grand prize too hehe) so i am so excited for it to be here again.  I know i have taken part with a few readathons recently but that is only because they have all being together, after this, no readathons for a good while :/

The Offical 'Blurb'  for the Bout of Books 5.0.
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal.  It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 13th and runs through Sunday, August 19th in whatever time zone you are in.  Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week.  There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.  For all Bout of Books 5.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. -From the Bout of Books 5.0 team
