Bout of Books; Day 7 Update and Wrap-up!!...

Day 7; Sunday 19th August......An awesome day!!!!.
Books read today; Confessions of an Angry Girl by Louise Rozett
Books completed so far; 2 books-Speechless by Hannah Harrington and the one above
Today's Progress;  83% of Confessions book, which at 272pgs, I read approx 225pgs!!!!!!  today
Readathon Pages Total; Approx 605pgs!!!!
Feelings/Updates; Had a great day all around with the kids- going out for a family meal and just having fun!  Followed by a must needed post that i had to put up, however i feel like no one is gonna read it or even be bothered with what i am offering, oh well :) I also managed to get in a whole 3 and bit hrs of reading! and i managed to finish the book i was reading.  I got so involved in the book, i didn't realise how much i had read, amazing!! Cannot wait for her next book in the series.

WRAP-UP!!
Ok, so here is the link to the goals that i set out to achieve!

My goals
*Try to attend 1 twitter 'party' (I had every intention too, but unfortunately for various reasons i missed all 3 which i was really unhappy about :( )
*Ensure i am active on twitter inbetween, using the #boutofbooks  (Not as much as i liked, and not as much as last time but nevermind.)
*To check out people's blogs and to comment on their progress (Yep easy one!)
*To post up my winning prize from the last Bout of Books! I have not done a post with the winning prize completed and in my possesion. (YES!! It is up BUT only from yesterday. Check out the post, it is my winning prize from the last Bout of Books readathon AND i have done a little giveaway- everyone gets a prize as such, hehe, post is here! )
*To complete 3 books ( Now i have 2 books from my last readathon-1 i am 24% way through and the other i have just started) but i will include the 3 books i planned to read for this readathon.  (Sadly i failed on this one but i didn't feel like i had, i feel like i have achieved a lot given the week i had :)
*To update this post with progress (Yep i kept up to date regularly :) and linked up!)

Read;
Two of the books i wished to read in the readathon, these were;
*Speechless by Hannah Harrington
*Confessions of an Angry Girl by Louise Rozett,
( i loved both of them, got through then quickly!!) I also read some more (about 15%) of a book from the previous readathon i did last week)
*Thy Neighbor by Norah Vincent (not enjoying this as much, taking me a long time to read!)

READ PAGE TOTAL= 605!!! wow! just wow!

I have to say that i really enjoyed the readathon (again), this is my favourite readathon because of all the interaction, challenges and link-ups.  I was sad to read that the link-up's aren't working for everyone and i hope that these don't stop because of some problems.  I am sad that is it over :( but looking forward to the next one.

NOTE TO SAY; I will be replying to all comments within the next few days (kids depending! lol) and also catching up with people's wrap-up posts etc.  I have 4 Reviews to get up on here!!! In a review block right now which is getting me down, so i kinda need a break. I need a break from reading too for a few days at least, maybe even a week, i feel sad because of the books i planned to read in August!

Hope everyone enjoyed the readathon :)

I was the winner- Bout of Books 4.-GIVEAWAY HERE!

Yes, not that many seem to realise, but i was the Grand prize winner for the Bout of Books Readathon 4.0, this was back in May.  Rather than copy out all the posts that i made on my blog, i am going to link them.  When i realised that i had won- i did an 'OMG I WON' post because i was so excited and shocked!  My prize was to be designed and sent to me by the lovely Shirley @ Creative Deeds Reads- she is experienced in the world of graphic design.  She was absolutely lovely, really friendly and we worked together to come up with the final design for my bookmark. She did a post after i received my bookmarks, they took a while but i didn't mind as it was coming from the US, and shipping took longer than the design LOL! She was kind enough to design me- my blog header, a twitter button and my ladybirds (a ladybird in a heart design-how cute!!) I blogged about the new twitter button i had a while ago- i was happy and excited lol.
Here is these designs;

So, the final design for the bookmark is below- i love it

I was given the choice of how many bookmarks i would like and it ranged from 100- 500 (i think, maybe more! so i chose a sensible number and i picked 250, which is plenty.  Here they are in the box, and this is how they were when i received them but i have included the twitter pic i posted to show a glimpse of the bookmark and that i had received it =D .

Now, I was delayed in making a post about this, my apologises but i then decided to wait until the Bout of Books 5.0 to show people doing this readathon how fantastically awesome the grand prize is!!
So, enter enter enter, as i love my bookmarks!

But as a little giveaway (as such), anyone who would like a bookmark- i will send a couple, in a card with a little note :) I am willing to send them international too!
All you need to do is to comment here and email me at
beckiexx03@aol.com with your details of where to them sent too,
and put BOOKMARK in the subject line.
Your details will be kept safe and emails deleted once i have sent them.
I would LOVE all my followers and people who have commented on my blog etc to receive them
but feel free to spread the word.  I have a limit though, so be quick =D

Bout of books, day 6 update..........

Day 6; Saturday 18th August......another repeat.....infact worse .
Books read today; Confessions of an Angry Girl by Louise Rozett
Books completed so far; 1 book-Speechless by Hannah Harrington
Today's Progress;  7% of Confessions book, which at 272pgs, I read approx 19pgs  today
Readathon Pages Total; Approx 380pgs so far

Feelings/Updates; Today was a failure with reading again! It is just down to having family time- which i loved, but house and laundry which i hated!  We had a massive family bbq to go to which was brilliant and by the time we got in i was washed out!  I realised i had missed the Twitter chat again, which means somehow i missed all 3, really unhappy about that! :(  So i wasn't in a reading mood by the time the children were settled in bed- gone 9pm!  My partner put a film on, which he fell asleep watching as usual and even though i said i was gonna try and read, i ended up watching the film again and i watched it till the end whilst he snored! typical!  I tried to read but did little before falling asleep.  I feel guilty about not reading enough and not making more time to read.  I haven't done the posts i needed to do whilst the readathon has being going on, i have a block while writing a review :( i have 3 pending reviews to do, amongst other planned posts and i feel my blog is just readthon updates where i say i haven't read much! Granted i do enjoy what i read. I'm just sad the readathon is almost over.  I wish i would have done a readathon in September but Bout of Books is my fav ever readathon.  I am so behind with everything.  Moan over, im sorry and i'm sorry if you've got to the end of this-well done!.  Day 7 isn't going to be much better, it's 3pm and i have read zero!  My own fault, this morning did online shopping in a sale and read some previews of books on Amazon,oh dear!  but we have just had a meal out with the kids which was lovely but stressful lol.

Hope everyone had a better reading day than me!

Bout of Books; Day 5 update........

Day 5; Friday 17th August......not a repeat of yesterday :(
Books read today; Confessions of an Angry Girl by Louise Rozett
Books completed so far; 1 book-Speechless by Hannah Harrington
Today's Progress;  10% of Confessions book, which at 272pgs, I read approx 27pgs  today
Readathon Pages Total; Approx 361pgs so far

Feelings/Updates;Today was a failure with reading.  I had a flare up of pain, so i had to just sleep it off as such. When i felt better, i felt guilty to the kids so we had some time together being silly.  When i got to have some time online, i had to clear some of my emails out....i did some online shopping eeekk!! and i then  checked out some blogs and did some commenting on people's updates.  I have yet to reply to comments on my blog but i will do it :)  I checked out the challenges but one was not international and i didn't have time to do it for fun :( and the other one, i couldn't get my books out to do the book spines challenge as the kids were in bed.  I tried to read but that 10% took me hours as i had to keep re-reading the same paragraph over and over, wasn't going in at all. I kept watching the film my partner had on because it was so funny such a distraction.  I may even re-read some of that 10% again because it wasn't going in,  I wasn't in a reading mood.  It's now mid day on day 6 and i'm sad the readathon is almost over and i haven't met my goals.  I love the community of this readathon.  Also i haven't done my post to show the grand prize i got for the last Bout of Books, i don't think people realised i won, also i am going to do a giveaway for my bookmarks for people :)

Hope everyone had a better reading day than me!

Bout of Books; Day 4 Update & Challenges...

Day 4; Thursday 16th August......Wow what happened lol...

Books read today; Speechless by Hannah Harrington
Books completed so far; 1 book-Speechless
Today's Progress;  54% of Speechless, which at 288pgs, I read approx 155pgs  today
Readathon Pages Total; Approx 334pgs so far

Feelings/Updates; Wow, what the hell happened today!!! I have no clue!! I have had a busy day too, a busy morning with the kids and then this afternoon i had an hospital appointment where i was in there for 1hr30mins-the drive is around 30mins each way and since i am the passenger i got to do quite a bit of reading.  This evening i have read and read and read.  It just proves what having a clear mind AND reading a good book can do to you.  The other book i am reading, no way could i have read do much.  Infact i am putting it to the side for now but i will finish it. I am so chuffed with myself :) and i entered all 3 challenges, woohoo! I haven't being active on twitter (so sorry) and not being on any blogs (sorry) but i def play catch up tomorrow :) Can't do everything!

Challenges.

***The first challenge of the day was hosted by 'Reading in Winter' and is titled 'A Book for Every Season'.  To name books for each season- could be to do with cover, title, setting in the book or just something about reading that book during that time etc.
Here are mine;

 (This season is the start back to school after the summer holidays and start of the new school year, makes me think of Harry Potter starting back at Hogwarts).
Winter-The Gift by Cecelia Ahern- Set in winter, christmas time, snow on ground etc
SPRING-A Spring Affair by Milly Johnson- Namesake in title, set in spring
SUMMER-That Summer by Sarah Dessen- Namesake in title, love the author.

*** The second challenge was hosted by BookSmartie and was called the CandyChallenge. This was to show/name what you snacked on while reading, and whether the book influenced your snacks.
Mine;
I snack on whatever i fancy at the time or what is in my cupboards etc but there are some firm favourites-

 DRINKS- Hot chocolate, coffee.
SNACKS-Chocolate (any type!) and popcorn

***The third challenge was hosted by Books with Cass and is a contemporary challenge about favourites, i loved this but was bit unsure when i had 2 out of 3 same favs as the host....total conscience.  I tried to change my favs but i couldn't because they are my favs too.

Fav Contemporary= Pushing the Limits.
Fav Cover= My Life Next Door
Fav Surprise Contemporary= Saving June

Wow. What a Day!!!
Loved all the Challenges =D

Day 3; Wednesday 14th August.......not going good for me

Books read today; Speechless by Hannah Harrington
Books completed so far; None so far
Today's Progress;  26% of Speechless, which at 288pgs, I read approx 74pgs  today
Readathon Pages Total; 179pgs so far
Feelings/Updates; Struggling finding time to read at the mo with it being school holidays.  I am doing what i can but it feels never enough and i cannot believe it is day 4 now...i have but aside the 'Thy Neighbor' book because i am desperate to read 'Speechless' and in fact i am loving this book, i can't put it down but i have too. I don't feel i am reading as much as i did in the May Bout of books :( I am trying my best though xx

Challenges.

******The first challenge was held by The Musings of ALMYBNENR and was a Booksearch challenge, it was really fun to completer thebook challenge online and i have proof i did it, this is the link i had to send to proof i have done it :)

******The next challenge was by The Busy Bibliophile, was to match the zombie cover and i only got 3 out of 13!!!! i think it was 13, shocking! lol but fun!

Bout of books day 2 update and challenges

Day 2; Tuesday 13th August......slight improvement :D

Books read today; Thy Neighbor by Norah Vincent and Speechless by Hannah Harrington
Books completed so far; None so far
Today's Progress; 20% of Speechless, which at 288pgs, I read approx 57pages. And I read 5% of Thy Neighbour which is 322pgs so approx 16pages.  Total pages today approx is 73pages.
Readathon Pages Total; 105 pages I think.....
Feelings/Updates; I have had a slightly better day,i didn't start reading until late afternoon, and I did it because I wanted too rather than I had too.  I don't know how the readathon will pan out for me but I need to have faith, I am doing what I can and iwill enjoy it, I am still ill, my medication, well one of them, has being tripled!! Therefore most of time I am a walking zombie and It will get worse this week until my body adjusts. GREAT! If it makes me pain free again in long run I am not complaining.  I have not being on twitter today but I have visited lots of blogs and commented on a lot and I will do some more tonight :) my reading progress will be updated later.

Challenges.

*****Today's first challenge is hosted by Curiosity Killed the Bookworm, and the challenge is to write a Limerick, it is explained on the blog.
Here goes;
She loves 2 read pages n pages
She finks she has ages n ages
She must remember 'er blog
It weighs 'er darn lika log
But in real life neither pay the wages.

***** In the second challenge, hosted by The Grammarians Reviews,  the challenge is to Relocate! the book you are reading?
Here is mine;
Book is 'Thy Neighbor' by Norah Vincent, set in a suburban neighbourhood, and he spy's on all the neighbours by getting cameras fitted in their houses.  I would relocate him to working in a secret FBI investigation centre whereby he watches millions of different cameras to try to crack cases. He has to find the cameras and find the time frame- this way he is filling his urge to soy on people and know what they are doing, but as well as doing a good thing for the world and to get recognition and a sense of achievement.  He feels like he missed out on this growing up and now he can have everything he ever wanted in life and still spy on everything hehe.
********The third challenge is hosted by 'Once Upon a Time' and will be completed tomorrow as there is no end date.

Bout of books; Day 1 & challenges

Day 1 Monday 12th August.........little action.

Books read today; Thy Neighbor by Norah Vincent.
Books completed so far; None so far
Today's Progress; I read 10% of a 320 page book which is only 32pages!

Readathon Pages Total; 32
Feelings/Updates; I am ill at the moment, as mentioned at the end of the SWUR readathon.  I don't need to be ill when i have a readathon back to back, argh!! Let's hope tomorrow is a better day!! Those pages were read at midnight when i couldn't sleep! During the day, i did read blogs and comment on ppl's blog posts. I was all ready for the twitter chat but i fell asleep :( not a happy bunny.  I have also missed  entering the challenges as I have left it until day two but never mind. I am still going to do the challenges here :)

Challenges.

The first challenge, hosted by Auggie Talk is to name 'My Literacy BFF'
This was really difficult for me to decide but in the end it was one who sticks in my mind and people will think this is so silly, but it would be Rebecca Bloomwood from the Shopaholic series written by Sophie Kinsella.  In the books, I just loved her! Funny, crazy, up for fun but yet also kind, caring, loveable and warm hearted......we would just click, with the attitude and everything.  Also she is a shopaholic.....like me! We would be united with our credit cards to the max lol.  We would just have such a giggle together....holidays, nights out, day outs.  While sharing more serious stuff, both having a younger sister, planning weddings, pregnancy support and then having little mini me's who we would pass on the shopping gene! We both have little girls who also love to shop, so they would play together...having till sets, plastic money and plastic credit cards while we put the world to rights. I would get her to love books too hehe.  So funny that in the film, she is played by Isla Fisher meaning we both have red hair! Lovely lol.
The second challenge was hosted by Reading in Texas and The Space Between and is called 'Passing the book challenge'. It is a question to ask what you do with your books when you finish reading them, I think this is a really interesting challenge and I look forward to reading people's responses.
With mine, after reading, they are usually passed to my mum and my sister to read if they want too.  If not then I decide what to do with them, as well as any books that are passed back to me.  In the past, I have not kept any of my read books, well, maybe the odd few I have but usually, they have been given to charity shops.  Now I am getting protective over my books and I am planning to keep them and get some lovely jazzy book shelves!

SWUR; Wrap-up!........

Well , yesterday marked the end of the Summer Wrap-up readathon! It was hosted by  Jennifer @ Some Like it Paranormal and Jude @ In Between. Again thank you to them!  They have set one final challenge, which i will complete towards the end of this post :).

My thoughts.
The readathon started off great for me!  I really made progress and enjoyed it.  Unfortunately, i ended up being ill towards the end, and therefore due to my medication i slept a lot= no reading apart from a few pages.  I only popped onto twitter a few times, i completely forgot that there would be a twitter chat organised.  I planned to occasionally pop onto twitter in the beginning and then when i was making progress i thought i would be on more but obviously been ill ruined that plan!  I participated in a few challenges and LOVED them! they were great challenges! But unfortunately towards the last few days i didn't and challenges i had put off to do later, well never got done :(  Shame really.

 My Progress.
The links to my posts;

Day 1-3 update here
Day 4-6 update here
Day 7-9. update here.

My goals was to finish the book i was reading and then i had 3 other books;
*well i completed the post i was reading (Pushing the Limit) -NEED TO WRITE A REVIEW
*I finished 1 book- January First- NEED TO WRITE A REVIEW.
*I read 30% of Thy Neighbor book.

I managed to read 481 pages during the readathon!!! Very proud!!!!

The challenges i completed.
*On Saturday 1st, the challenge by Jessica on her blog Wickedly Bookish,, Here is the link to my post for the 'Cover Hunt Challenge'
*On Sunday 2nd, the challenge-  Hotter than Summer and is hosted by Trini @ A Book Lover's Review Blog. Here is my link for the 'Swoon challenge'
*On Monday 3rd, the challenge-Cover Love by  Emily at 'Falling for YA'   and my link here.
* On Tuesday 7th, the challenge by Mackenzie @ 'Oh for the Love of Books!'
which was to plan a summer party-I didn't have a post for this as it was in a comment & i pasted it onto my daily post and i also did a pinterest board for it, to create a visual idea. Here goes-

A quiet intimate affair with close family & friends towards the end of the summer season, as a celebration of the summer. It would be held sort of late evening and in a large garden area. There would be a long wooden table (or two) with wooden chairs (decorated) all set out with the cutlery/summer plates & glasses etc, the middle would include candles and colourful flowers. The candles could be lit late evening. The food would be a sort of bbq and also a buffet with yummy summer puddings and desserts. There would even be a big colourful cake that would be cut to celebrate summer like celebrating a wedding with a wedding cake. There would a dance area with music so that as the night went on they could have a dance. For those more quiet, there would be a secluded area with comfy seats/couches/bean bags etc so people could read (we all love to read yeah!) and finally there would be an area with an hot tub so people could enjoy a cocktail or too maybe while they chill out and soak. Speaking of cocktails, there would cocktails-alcoholic and non, fancy drinks, punch bowls, fancy glasses with straws. The whole place would be decorated with bunting, flowers and twinkly lights!! twinkly lights above the tables and dance area. Low background music would be there whilst people ate at the table area, but later on the dance area would have more energetic music so people could enjoy themselves. I have included a link for Pinterest whereby i have done a summer party board just for this challenge to show visual pictures of all my ideas for this party. You will get a better idea of the party i have planned. Please click here.
 For the final challenge, our hosts, Jude at In Between and Jennifer at Some Like it Paranormal, asked us to show or describe places we had read during the readathon.

Now i am sad to say that my reading places in limited t0;
1- sofa- Big lovely comity sofa with a low window next to it, so i could sit with the views of outside (not great view but still) and i could have the window open with a lovely breeze, nice having the sun shining in too. Best still, it is a recliner! Perfect!
2-my bed- Especially when ill i did a lot of reading here! Soft bed with piles of pillows, quilts, blankets, with a fan that keeps me cool and awake! Nothing better than curling up, having my blankets wrapped around me so i'm snuggled and the fan blowing on my face as i read.
3-the bath- This is one of my fav places to read but i am limited, i dare not take the kindle in there, i do take paperback but i still feel a bit tetchy incase i get it wet. I didn't use to mind a book getting a bit curly from getting wet but now i am crazy about keeping them pristine!
4-the car-This week, i had some hospital appointments that were a good 30 mins in the car, taking the kindle meant i did lots of reading! No glare from the sun and lucky i do not experience motion sickness!!
5.the garden-Don't faint, in the UK we had some gorgeous weather, i spent a little bit of time in the garden, soaking up the rays, the warmth of the sun on my skin, and luxkily reading with a kindle..the sun can shine but doesn't effect your reading-no glare!! I wish i had comfortable garden furniture though as i got so unsettled and achy i had to go into, laying on the grass isn't a possibility anymore for me :(.
**I do not have any piccies to show! but this is where i would LOVE to have spent the week reading lol.

Bout of Books 5.0 Readathon goals.....

Wow.....it is here....already!!!!!!! Bout of books 4.0 was my 1st ever readathon (i won the grand prize too hehe) so i am so excited for it to be here again.  I know i have taken part with a few readathons recently but that is only because they have all being together, after this, no readathons for a good while :/

The Offical 'Blurb'  for the Bout of Books 5.0.
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal.  It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 13th and runs through Sunday, August 19th in whatever time zone you are in.  Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week.  There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.  For all Bout of Books 5.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. -From the Bout of Books 5.0 team

I am so excited, i just cannot wait and have looked forward to it for ages.  Unfortunately I am not starting the readathon off in the best way because i am quite ill but i am determined to finish it on a good note and feel like i have met my goals.  I have just finished a readathon on the 12th, and the last few days were 'pants' after a really good start for me.  So i will put it behind me and focus on this :)

Feelings/updates; The fact i have picked up my kindle today is amazing because i felt so ill, in so much pain, so sleepy that i don't know how i did it.  Such a small amount to read, I am so down with how the end of the readathon has gone, i had high hopes with doing well in the beginning, but you cannot help your health.

Day 9; Sunday 12th August.........slightly better..only slightly...

Books Read Today; Thy Neighbor
Books I have completed; Just the two.
Today's Progress; I did a little better today and read 6%, which is around 19 pgs of a 320 book.
Readathon pgs total; 481 pages total!
Feelings/updates. Today I was still really I'll but not as medicated through the day with oral morphine so I was a wake a little more. I managed to read a little bit and I felt proud given the circumstances. I hated this book and I still don't like it but it has elements that are grabbing me and I am hoping I can start to enjoy it more so I can finish it. I am sad it is the last day of the readathon! I feel like I have failed as I haven't met my goals but I started well for me and nothing you can do when I'll.

How has the readathon gone for others in the last few days?  Enjoying it?

Anyone starting Bout of Books 5.0 readathon tomorrow? I am! But having an ill start great!
